I have an original Road Runner and when I had the convertible top made back in the early 70's, the top was tucked into the front windshield frame. On my wife and my 40th anniversary, we took the Buggy out Rt 66, (the Mother Road) from NW Ohio to the Oklahoma Indian Teritory and back. The very first day of our trip we encountered near 100 degrees and very sunny so we had to run with the top up. Then the wind coming at us started to tug on the top where it was tucked into the windshield frame. We stopped along the road and I tucked some pennies and nickles into the channel along with the top material. It held for the next 9 days with no
problems at all. Been using them ever since.

We knew what the grooves were for but decided to go with the push buttons becuase i tow behind the RV at 75 to 80 mph on a trailer long distance and by tucking into the windshield we thought it might flip out.
I do not have any side bars ( like on a jeep) for support and it is a little floppy in the wind.
this way it is held on real tight.
I really only use the top for Towing when we go away so for my use it is the best. I think.... not sure but to each his own.
The guy who made the top does a lot of boats and he felt in high wind this would be the best for me.
Personally i would have gone the other way for looks but got what i got
Andy

So Ken, How goes the Battle? Did you ever sell your car? I noticed that you have come back to the regular forums and are stirring the pot some. Glad to see it! Let's see..... I think I have three buggies now, none run, but being poor it might take me quite a few years to ever catch up to you. List of buggies: Kyote clone, Max, Kyote. I hope to get pics of both the clone and real one side by side, perhaps someone can then identify the clone. Did pick up a Corvair Greenbrier Van. Thought about using the motor for the Max, but van is complete and worth more than the Max?
A Question for you, Where is a good place to get the fiberglass mat from, the kind that is long fiber, not woven.

Just head rattling from that Western Red Neck!

Lloyd

Power went out at 9:20 last night and a 2:00am where awakened by the sound of a large branch snapping and ripping our power line off the house. Luckly it it did'nt pull it out of the meter as there was one last clamp holding the line to the wall about 10"s from the meter. Power came back on at 11:30 this morning. This was only the 2nd time we didn't have to go into work in 28 years at Big Brown.

This is Jim in Groveland Fl. Im not going to say anything bad because we had a wind storm come in last week and destroyed 2 houses about a 1/4 mile from me. Other then that we are starting to get our temps in the upper 70s I had the buggy out last weekend. Today temps low 80s with a 30% chance of rain. So either place its not good buggy weather.
Jim

I'm not trying to complain, but I thought going through military training in Texas during the winter would be a little like a vacation... at least from the cold. Imagine my surprise when I opened my door in the dorm this am, the wind blew snow in the room, and the ice that built up between the frozen door jamb and the steel door, meant that the quick blast of warm air somehow managed to allow more ice to form to the point that I COULDN'T GET THE DOOR SHUT! I had no choice but to use a plastic knife (thanks to the TSA and flying or I would have had my Buck) to chip away at the ice in order to get the door stinkin shut.

This is Texas?

Jay
