Yeah, it appears real... Got the bump on the hood, the separate hood, no dash (replaced by some aluminum diamond plate, tag is missing from over the tunnel, has the fiberglass tubes running the length of each side of the body (possibly enclosing plastic tubing, and not cardboard). Slight hack job above the rear center (air cleaner location). Left-front drive light post has been re-glassed (poorly). Butchered beneath the rear seat, on both sides.

Some nicks and holes here and there. Originally a yellow gelcoat, then painted purple, now it's in gray primer. The VW chassis is # 1122783345 (1969 IRS, no?) Chassis is out of the system in CA. No engine, but it does have the tranny attached.

The owner, Juan, says that he has a buyer coming in from Las Vegas on Saturday a.m. I passed on it, since it is a full-on restoration. He's even willing to store it right where it is for $35/mo. Nice enough guy, who had the Manx left to him by a neighbor. Since he's only interested in Chevy's this one is of no use to him.

1956 Safari Trail Dune Buggy.
This is a project and needs completion.
I just don't have the time to complete.
This would make a great Father and Son or Daughter project.
The body is in good condition, the pan is ready, the motor is a 1600, the transaxle is a '60s swing.
New Drilled Rotor Disc brakes for the front or the '56 stock brakes are there also.
New brake lines, master cylinder, body seal and cables.
All four 5 bolts rims and tires are there (need painting).
The body has the windshield frame, roll bsr and gas tank.
About the only thing it needs is putting it together, some wiring, nuts & bolts, and some Paint.
I have the VW Ca pink slip that matches the pan VIN.
Should be easy to register.
This is listed locally also.
Make offer.
Will separate items.
It is best to come and take a look, I am here working most of the time.....

Tube frame. Will fit manx or manx clone. Has corvair running gear, corvair engine and tranny will fit right in. Running gear can easily be changed for VW.

Looking for a project but don't want to spend a fortune? Check this out. It is a kit car project. No engine, but does have the irs trans axle. Pretty bare, so you can build it how you want. Sits on a rolling vw pan. No title, but will give a bill of sale. I can deliver as far as Vegas or Havasu if you don't have a trailer, but for additional cost. We are moving this month, so if interested, act before it gets moved. Its only this low to avoid moving it.

For sale: a 1974 vw buggy project with a fiberglass manx style body.
The VW pan is a roller and it is complete with everything, including engine, trans, suspension, wheels, etc.
In the pictures, you can see that it is excellent shape with no real rust.
Currently the body is just sitting on top of pan, and it does need to be fitted and bolted down.
Its got a freeway flier transmission, and I was able to hot start the 1600 dual port engine last week.
I live across from the Montebello mall right off the 60 fwy on San Gabriel Blvd.
Please NO EMAILS or LOW BALLERS!!!!!!!!
First to show up with the $950 in cash takes it.

This is a fiberglass body for a dune buggy.
Comes with the hood, roll bar, and rear tumbler seats.
It has a couple flaws, but is ultimately in good condition.

Barris T Buggy body sitting on a 1958 V.W pan with a good running 1962 40hp VW engine.
The pan and body will need to be completely restored.
I have passenger side pans and a few other misc parts to go with the buggy.
This would make a great addition to any Volkswagen or George Barris collection.

I read the article below in a recent issue of Hot Rod magazine.

Ya gotta love the beauty and simplicity of a dune buggy. Get a VW Bug, remove the body, and drop on an open, fiberglass beach cruiser-topless fun doesn't get much easier or cheaper than that. Hence, buggies were all the rage in the '60s and '70s, which also means they weren't spared the creative stylings of customizer George Barris. These Barris T-Buggies were recently discovered in separate locations in the Portland, Oregon, area and are now awaiting restoration in California by collector Randy Carlson. It's not known exactly how many T-Buggies were built, but the current estimate is somewhere around five of each model, with only a few being operational. Randy is no stranger to restorations of wild vehicles and completed the resto of a Barris Phase 4 Fun Buggy a few years back. That car has been bouncing through the auction circuit recently. A registry group has been started on Facebook for fans and owners of the Barris Buggies, and hopefully others will rise to the surface.'
