I found the car on Craigslist for $600, and stripped it completely. Sold the extras and ended up breaking even on the purchase price. Found the incredible Sandpiper body about an hour west of here and wasted no time begging it off of the seller. Hoping to have it done as a family project in a couple of years.

Body |
Body is 196? super t. I have repainted it with metallic silver and blue flames (tipped gold). It was red originally.
|
Frame |
66 VW pan. I shortened and moved the shifter and e-brake tunnel back for super t body, at the time i restored it. Also I built a 2 inch body lift for more leg and seat room but it didn't help much. There is still a ledge that won't allow you to lower the seat.

Engine |
64 type 3 1500 super. built it into an upright. Plans for 2100 dual port soon. 1500 was fine until I added all the weight during the restoring process.

Super T buggy
Story |
I have one of these. I sent you a photo a while back to help identify it. Maybe the following info will help. I am not sure but I think it was manufactured in CA in the late 60's or early 70's. I have only seen the pictures you have and pictures of one other Super T, located in southern CA. I don't know if there are more or where they may be. Here is some info: Dune Buggy Model: Super T Manufacturer: Kellison City and State: California ? Hood Description: Model T Dash Description: Molded with hood - "Kellison" on passenger side Rear Seat Area: none Fender Description: Flat running boards with curved fenders Tail Description: Box - "Kellison" on rear panel I have attached two pics of my Kellison Super T. Hope you can use them. Will get more angles and dash later.

Jim's Super T
Body |
Originally when I purchased my Kellison Super T Buggy in May of '08, it had a 1970 Kellison Super T body legthened 9 inches so that a Corvair engine could fit under the rear deck. However, I decided to do away with the Corvair power and go with a VW Engine. One year later in May of '09, the gentleman who's property the buggy was on told me that his brother bought the exact same buggy back in 1970 and never built it. I paid his brother a visit and bought the Blue Metalflake Body that is used on the buggy as you see it.

Frame |
The frame is a shortened 1962 frame that has beed completely re-done. New Floor Pans along with frame being taken down to bare metal and re-painted. Almost everything was redone, repaired or replaced!

I bought this for a song from a Craigslist ad, after looking for a local affordable Buggy for a year. The chassis just needs a bit of cleanup and paint. The body has a couple small cracks and the dash is cut, but it's amazingly straight. It's a project for a specific trip, once it's restored. Follow the link for pics.

This was my introduction into the VW world. I have always admired the fiberglass Dune Buggy. On a nice March day while my wife was out of town I felt a little spring fever and couldn't resist the charm of this convertible. I bought it without telling her ahead of time, but I was only in trouble for a moment. Now she loves it as much as I do. Its a real conversation piece wherever we go, especially with the kids friends -- my daughter even asked me why everyone smiles and waves at us as they pass by.

My husband bought me the buggy 2 years ago. Started taking it apart in Nov. 07. I am sanding the body to paint. Hopefully will have it together by July 08. I got low back cloth seats, autometer gauges(they make a 5in. speedometer) new gas tank, pretty much everything new except the motor. Buggy will be midnight blue with dark gray when done.

Been sittin about 7 years, pans rotten, single port engine seized. Got a 2180 going together and a pan in progress. Got an aluminum beam and a set of PRP lowbacks upstairs waiting for this project. I've wanted to build a glass buggy for a long time and have been collecting all the right parts for years. This buggy will serve as a recreational drag racer, street toy and family sand car. 2 year project finally complete. The only things on this buggy I didn't personally build or fabricate are the soda blast on the body and the transaxle assembly.

I bought this years ago in NW Indiana. I emailed Jim Kellison back in 2001 and this is what he told me about the XP1 and roof.
Hi Dave, We made over 3000 of the XP1s,but only sold about 40 of the hard tops for them,so the hardtop is rare.
Someday I'll get around to finishing the site, including the Dune Buggies.
Best Regards Jim I guess the picture didnt work. Here is the link to a picture.
