We bought the body from a freind and decided to build it for thr 2008 Funfest in Il. It turned into a 30 night and 4 weekend build. went well with a little drama the day we started to leave for Effingham. It wouldn't start, turns out i hooked the module in the dizzy up wrong and burnt it out. went with an old set of points and we were off. The most fun buggy I've ever had

Story |
We had a Buggy when I was a kid and have always wanted one. About 40 years later I found this one from a guy that had had it for 3 years but didnt get very far building it. He had purchased the body and pan separate and never married the two. I worked on it every chance I could and finished it in a little over 3 months.

Sand Rover RegistryAn East coast design with wider rear fenders and a tail box over the carberator to meet the East cost standards. It was advertised in late '67 and early '68 so it was one of the earlier models.
The hood is kind of a play on the Beetle hood.

Story |
Owned for over ten years before I found out what it was thanks to the dune buggy archives. Bought it from a guy who had like 15 bodies behind a local gas station. It was my favorite design and super thick glass. built 2000-2001, and beat the s**t out of it as a daily driver in college. Sat behind parents house for 5 years till I stripped it last year, got a dave barrett manxchassis and started over, hoping to have it back in 2011 with a solid frame, just driving though, same beat up paint job from 2000, thats next winter, I just miss driving and beating on it.

I have always wanted a buggy since Thompson in Gilroy in the mid 60s built some Manx's in his barn. ...Just replaced the Tranny last week Dan at the UPS Shop in Huntington Beach sold me his spare Freeway flyer...It is awsome. with My friend Dans help ( different Dan this one a Vet of Iraq )we re wired the dash and engine compartment ..I now have wipers and dash Lights ...its like driving a car with all the comforts of home. Why do I need a diode in series with the generator light to be able to shut down the engine with the KEY still learning this is a great hobby. Just put in new seat covers...looking good. A bit more Chrome and Yeah!.
