Hi Joe Welcome to the group. I'm nearly in the same boat as you. I have a older Berrien shortback rail that I converted into a longback and had a 1915cc T-1 built for it. Long story short, I'm soured on T-1 motors and looked into a T-4 as they are reputed as being very reliable. I joined a couple of T-4 forums to see what the current options were as to building up a stronger, (but more expensive) motor, and as I read, I kept thinking, a Subaru makes the same and even more hp for a lot less money. And their famous for reliability. This is a big point for me as my T-1 didn't last a season. So I have acquired a 2.7 from a 88' XT-6 (yes Paul, the body is trashed) :-) and I'm in the search for an ECU/harness. That is what led me to Paul, finding his posts on the Buggy-Talk forum at Dune-Buggy.com. Also the recent discussion there about the Mega-squirt system seems to show promise and is much cheaper than the Link system. As for the motor/transaxle adapter, I've found a guy who makes a adapter kit for $400 and it seems to be of the same quality as the KEP (KEP wants $500). Take a look, http://www.heckermachine.com/new.pages/motorsports.html. Currently, We're building a new home and all resources are going into it, so I'm basically in the window shopping stage until we're further down the road to completion.
