Previous Next Up Topic Welcome Joe, and brief Bio from me By TERRY FLOYD Date Tue, 23 Dec 2003 09:49:57 -0500

Hi Joe Welcome to the group. I'm nearly in the same boat as you. I have a older Berrien shortback rail that I converted into a longback and had a 1915cc T-1 built for it. Long story short, I'm soured on T-1 motors and looked into a T-4 as they are reputed as being very reliable. I joined a couple of T-4 forums to see what the current options were as to building up a stronger, (but more expensive) motor, and as I read, I kept thinking, a Subaru makes the same and even more hp for a lot less money. And their famous for reliability. This is a big point for me as my T-1 didn't last a season. So I have acquired a 2.7 from a 88' XT-6 (yes Paul, the body is trashed) :-) and I'm in the search for an ECU/harness. That is what led me to Paul, finding his posts on the Buggy-Talk forum at Dune-Buggy.com. Also the recent discussion there about the Mega-squirt system seems to show promise and is much cheaper than the Link system. As for the motor/transaxle adapter, I've found a guy who makes a adapter kit for $400 and it seems to be of the same quality as the KEP (KEP wants $500). Take a look, http://www.heckermachine.com/new.pages/motorsports.html. Currently, We're building a new home and all resources are going into it, so I'm basically in the window shopping stage until we're further down the road to completion. Later, Terry

Hi Paul and Group, Thanks for the invitation to join the group. I live in Michigan and do my duning at the Silver Lake Sand Dunes. I have a fiberglass bodied (Manx copy) dune buggy with a type 1 VW engine. I am interested in the Subaru powered buggies because they appear to be a great alternative engine for the VW which will make lots of power, be reliable and not leak oil like the Type1! I hope to learn more about people's experiences with this conversion and eventually perform the conversion on my buggy. I am looking forward to hearing your stories. Thanks, Joe

Hi Joe and welcome to the group. Can you tell us a little about yourself and your interest in Subaru powered buggies?

Thanks, Paul...
