This thread will be a open notebook on planning the Interior. I am open to any and all suggestions.
I also want to post the pre-planning and prep work in each of these areas, so everyone can follow the progress.

Will the pan have VW slider rails? Never dealt with a Berrian before so don't know. Seats sliders that bolt to the floor or seat sliders made from VW seats? TJ Custom carpet? (can't wait to see what they look like, quality, etc)

The Berrien chassis needs seat mounting points welded to the frame, under the glass floor.

This is how I mounted the seats to my Berrien chassis.  I had the tracks, don't know what they are out of but they are after market and adjust up and down front and back.  I ran angle iron across and welded 7/16 threaded rod splices to the bottom of the front angle.  I drilled a hole through the rear angle and put the splice through the hole then welded it around the hole.  This accomplished two things, it tilts the seats back and gives a nice threaded hole to mount the seat belts to.  I then drilled nice holes through the fiberglass floor with a hole saw and put rubber grommets in them.  The splices fit very nice through the grommets.  I then bolted up through the chassis seat mounts into the the splices.

I hope I explained that well.

This is the kind of stuff I don't think can be accomplished in a two day build.  It took me longer than that to figure out how I wanted to do it, the first idea isn't always the best and then you have parts running.  I'm not trying to be negative, I just think a custom build will take longer than two days to do a nice job.  JMHO

I agree on this,  when it comes to fabbing on the fly,  we need to not do that.  Welding would be a problem there too.

Berrien chassis used to have optional tabs for seat mounts.
I have a bunch of them laying in the garage.

The newest version of the chassis has them pre mounted to fit the seat tracks they carry.

I just sold the last set of tracks i had in the gargage a couple of months ago. Crap.
I will need a new set.

The procar seats I have should bolt right up.
I need to get another set of tracks.

Are you planning any stereo and speakers of some sort? I have a guy who specializes in that who works here. Let me know.

I definately want to get to tunes at some point but, have yet to think about that part.
If he has some advice or anything I would be open to it.
Thanks

Thru the old interior out over the weekend. It was so rotten I decided it was dumb to keep it.
No updates on the interior yet. Coming soon.

Carpet kit from Tijuana Kustoms came yesterday. What very nice professional piece.
I have done several of the "cut 10 pc" carpet installations. They work very well and don't last.

This carpet being molded for the floor pan looks like it will last longer than most factory new vehicle carpets I see.
Thick and evenly made. I can't wait to spread it out and get a look at it.

It's raining here so when it dries up i'll shoot some pics.
Looks like the color Tom picked is going to be a knockout!
You'll have to wait for pics....

I know the suspense is killing you.....

My Tijuana Kustoms carpet is doing good.  Even after spilling things on it, getting rained on and full of dirt on several occasions.  No fault of my own of course.

I got the TJK car cover delivered. This is a really high qaulity custom car cover.
I will post more on it real soon.

I can't wait to see the buggy cover. I'm very happy with my carpet and its quality. Each year I cover the buggy with a tarp. It doesn't seem right if you know what I mean.

Very nice work Tom!!! Are you going to market these interiors, or is this just a special interior for the FunFest Buggy? I'd love to buy a set in black with silver trim for my Manx.....

You can't put a price on your fun, if you do, it stops being fun...
By Kustoms Date 2008-05-22 15:52
Yes, every thing John gets is available. We do not have pricing for the rear seat and panels yet. John got the first set cut by the computer. We will be offering many styles of seats and covers for your existing seats.
