Can't get hold of a past owner and it looks like a Boon Docker according to the id section. Anyone have a positive id on my buggy?

Hi Bil, although similar, I don't think it is a Boon Docker.

Have a look at the boon docker front fender. The bottom edge appears to be close to straight while yours is curved up to follow the countour of the fender.

Also, you don't provide a tail shot, but the Boon Docker has a tail that tucks down pretty abruptly. Its really tough to see if your buggy has this trait because of the height the picture was taken at. Looks like it may be something other than a Boon Docker.

Does this help?

BillH,
Looks like you and I have the same buggy...I too thought it was a boon docker (because of the hood ridge, like I'm sure you thought) but the shape of the front fenders suggests otherwise.  You and I are in the same boat of buggy mystery.

Here's my pics.

Yes, I think you and I have the same mystery on our hands! I hope one of us finds out what this buggy is.

Hi Bill - I love when we find two matching buggies - that indicates it was most likely not someone making a one-off design.  Can you (or Mike) post a picture of the dash from the passenger side and the hood straight on as well as any other unique features.

I'll get this turned into an X-File and set up a registry for you and Mike.

Thanks, Paul...

Unfortunately, the dash in ours has been butchered up pretty well.
Here's a pic though...

As for the fenders you have to use your mind to see that they are the same.

Look at it as the area you outlined has been cut away.
You need to always keep in mind when doing a Buggy ID that fiberglass was easy to cut and remove.
Lots of people did bunches of trimming to suit their own tastes.

I would say these are the same bodies.
I would also say Close cousin to the Boon Docker.
The Boon Dockers have the same tail box as a Sand Rover.

My brain says 80% sure it's a Bermco body.
I have a pic or two somewhere of one with a pot metal name plate even on it made like the old volkswagen decklid script. B E R M C O.....

Where I have that or the Bermco ads.... I can't seem to find them in the Archives.

I also find the headlight standoffs missing from the blue buggy interesting.

I wonder if it looks like they were ever there from underneath or removed and glassed over like Mike's are now.

Does the underside of the fender show any glass work???
I guess when you take the paint off you will see if it had originally had the headlight pedestals.

The hood design is stole from an Empi Imp hood I guess almost exactly.
It would be cool to take some measurements.

Also is the Dash ABS black plastic or metalflake fiberglass under the blue paint???

My dash is glass and integral with the hood. I cannot see that there was any glassing over of old headlight mounting holes. Also the steel plate pan stops at the front "firewall" and does not extend up to the axle tube area. Looks like it could flex. I have never driven this car as the flywheel is missing. Have another engine to put in but don't have the time yet. The buggy looks like it needs a lot of work to get it up to standards that I have seen on different forums.

I've labeled this model an X-0033.  Please add both your buggies to the X-0033 Registry.

John, we have 2 ads in the Bermoco HTV Advertising Gallery.  From what I can see, I think the HTV has head light stand offs and no hood scoop.  Did they make more than one model?

Just a quick note - its actually "Bermoco" based on the ad that is in the gallery.  We just went through and synced up the Buggy Id with the gallery.  Paul...

Not what I was thinking of.
I did come across this Houston Fibercraft brochure....

That looks more like the hood scoop.
Wish it was a photo not an artist drawing.

Although this is the body they are know for.
The Spyder. It looks like they changed the name on this brochure too. So it would be later than the Spyder ad.

GTMike. How did you mount your headlights finally? On the top of the fenders?
