Hey guys so I bought a 1956 bw bug frame that came with a dune buggy body
The 56 frame was not in good shape and on top of that it had a 1200 cc motor So I looked around and bought a 73 super bettle frame with motor and trans 1600cc so my question is are the frame the same size because I want to put the dune buggy body on the 73 I have no idea how to tell the year of the body or anything about it
Measure your old Pan, I think you will find that the width is probably within tolerances, However you will probably find that the pan has been shortened around 12" to 15" inches. Unless your buggy body is a full length. I hope that all works out well. Please post up some pictures of your body. Front(hood) back(tail) Dash and side view. Sounds like you are on your way.
A super beetle pan will only work if you change the frame head, which not an easy job. You have to be very accurate measuring when you weld it together.
Which part of the standard beetle frame is no good? As previously stated you cannot use the Super frame as it has a strut front suspension without cutting off the frame head.
Now....if the front half of the standard chassis is good you could use it and mate it to the back half of the Super frame. Since the frame likely has to be shortened anyways it might be your best option. But cutting a frame in half and welding two mismatched pieces together is a complex task and should not be taken lightly. Powered by mwForum 2.10.2 © 1999-2007 Markus Wichitill |
