I see there is some mystery to the Skat-Kat. Bodies were produced in Durham, NC from 1968-70, by my father. I am very interested in connecting with anyone with a Skat-Kat story or question. Also interested in buying Skat-Kat bodies/cars. At the very least I like to know where they are. Thanks!

Hi, I can share with you my experience with the Skat Kat my father purchased and built in Durham.
We lived in Durham at the time and my father was into buggies and built mostly homemade
pan style buggies with a group of local guys. They made several trips to the Outer Banks.
He built one fiberglass kit buggy in approx 1968. The Skat Kat is what we always called it.
I too have been puzzled. The first body style is not even close to the style as we see on DBA.
The one my father purchased and built was a traditional shortened pan manx style.
I at one time owned the now known snout front style and was amazed to find out
this was not the Skat Kat I knew as a kid.

Hi Dune Buggy Guy,
Wow! This is so exciting to me! Sorry to have been away from DBA for so many months. There were several variations on the body style. All had the Continental style rear, unless it was the Explorer truck model. (no relation to the Ford Explorer!) I'd love to learn more about your Dad, he obviously knew mine, and your family's Skat-Kat history. I have brochures, display items, metal sign and more. Also in possession of Dad's original ledger documenting all bodies and their serial numbers. Not to mention the memories! Sure hope to be able to connect further on this. I have been trying to attach pics. but no luck.

Hi Glassbuggy, So excited to be connecting with folks on the Skat-Kats. They are no mystery to me! I lived it. Remember the bodies popping out of the molds, shows in Dorton Arena in Raleigh, NC and lots more. I have searched and currently own four! Also have one body. See my other response for more info. My Dad was an awesome man and I want to share and learn all I can about these cars. I can't buy them all back but want to document all I can. Would love to know what you have on file.

I can send you the pics of the ones on file. You will have to scan and send me pics to update my files for archival purposes as I have zero info.  glassbuggy@yahoo.com would be the easiest way to swap info. I recently gained access to a newspaper site and ran Scat Kat in the search terms and I got a few hits but mainly they were individuals over the years selling one in the classified section. The only advertisements were one or two that went something like : Manx, Scat Kat and something bodies in stock etc.. wasn't anything noteworthy but I can rerun the search and grap the pic of the newspaper ad and what paper it was in. A few years ago I was in North Carolina to pick up a DuneRunner and the guy had a Scat Kat body. I have pics of that as well. First one that I saw the emblem up close on. Island Cruisers is the place where that one is/was
