This is my "Cayman" dune buggy.
These photos need to be added into the archive, as just generic photo of a "Cayman" is only available, did not know how to post photos of my "Cayman".
Built in 1969 in San Mateo county, ( SF Bay Area ), in northern California. a father and son built this, still have the folder on the build.
It was a bright yellow color. Now is camo sand and camo green for wheels and under body.
Now has a super beetle 1600 built out to 1684cc with an Ingle cam, by Marty in Phoenix, AZ, June 2013.
Transmission with freeway gears was rebuilt, as well as transaxle parts, at Bug House in Modesto, CA.
Alternator kit installed in July 2013.
Starter and lots new parts also added 2013.
Still has single carb and engine is single port.
High back racinig seats with camo seat covers.
With freeway gears, still plenty of torque to push 31" all terrain rear tires.
First gear = 25
Second gear = 45
Third gear = 70
Fourth gear = more
I do not jump this or rough drive it. Just cruising around on dirt roads, trails or asphalt.
