hi everyone
im new here. I did look through the buggy ID page but only found 3 that looked like mine. they were 1)Buggy Masters Buggy 2)Meyers Manx Corvair and 3) Mini Volks. Im hoping by finding out the body style I will be able to get the answers to some of my question ![]() ![]()
The rear looks very mini-volks to me. We could use a better dash picture.
Does it have long glassed in plywood supports going from the back side of the rear "seat" to the back side of the buggy (near the tail lights)? The windshield frame is also very Mini-volks. It was rather unique to the buggy. I had one and it was very similar (if not exact) to it. I will forage for some pics in the morning And well done doing some research first! ![]() ![]()
Thats it (if not close)! Mine dos have plywood reinforcements. The windshield is a matchs as well. For a while I thought it was made from a company out of Marblehead MA (can't remember the companys name).
I'm assuming the yellow mini volks, in the pictures, is yous. Do you remember how the steering column was mounted up by the dash.? Mine has this makeshift mount that comes up from the floor to the windshield and across to the other side. I would really like to use the steering column from Ididit.com. it's really sharp. I like the post you put up about it. How do you thing it would fit in a mini volks?
You are probably thinking of the Deserter Series 1 made by Autodynamics from Marblehead MA.
It was my buggy back in 2000. One of my most early builds.
Back then I just used a piece of 3" aluminum angle iron and used two bolts to mount it through the dash. You can see the two screws behind the steering wheel. Onto the angle iron I used a simple bearing to locate the solid shaft that I used for the steering column back then. It was simple and functional. Probably not the best set up but for just my second build it worked. If you pull up my Deserter build you can see how I made a custom square tube support for that car. It was much more solid. I would suggest something kinda like that and kinda like the Manx dash support: http://www.meyersmanx.com/mmstore/store-classicdashframe.shtml
Defiantly a Dunbar Minivolks , windshield is a dead giveaway. the darts in the body that form the headlight base is a Dunbar trait as well. Now you know : ) Nice example there are two Dunbar bodies on Craigslist right now , the one with the raised designs on the hood is the Dunbar Hawk
