For many years now I have adopted a tradition of taking the "Lil' Bugger" to out little rural town 9 miles away on the last day of the buggy's insurance for the season. It's starting to get cold in the mornings up here but hopefully I will make it to McDonalds for the final cup of hot chocolate of the season on December 23rd. Then it's put away for the winter.
A few times it has been so cold (even snowing twice) so I bundle up in my Snowmobile outfit and head for town. It's funny to look at the people's faces when they see me in this little open dune buggy. They actually shiver and I'm actually comfortable.. I've been doing this for about 10 years. A couple of times, the roads were to bad to go. Anyone else have any final buggy traditions?
Humm your braver than me, no I don't have any traditions like that need to make some. Sounds crazy but fun stay warm.

Depression ain't the word for it, it's downright painful........... But living out here in the country, if I get a good day during the winter, sun shinning and above 40 degrees, I'll take the buggy down to the corner and back, about 1.5 miles round trip. Makes me feel better. The problem is we don't get many 45 degree days during the winter..
![]() I try to keep my Chicago buggy on the road all winter and also use the above 40 rule for the 30 minute drive to work all bundled up. We did an hour drive on a warm February day only to drive home in rain and then snow... Then the fuel relay died while doing 65 on the highway with a tractor trailer behind me. Limped home and stayed off the gas... Paul...

No one has ever said that Dune Buggies don't add a little excitement to one's life.. LOL
We just had the first Flurries of the season. Makes me wonder if I'm going to be able fulfill my Yearly Tradition of taking the Lil' Bugger to McDonalds on 12-23-15.....? Maybe El Nino will help this year.....!
We have a yearly tradition here also.
We ride to the beach, point the buggy north and toast all our poor friends that can't drive it all winter long.... AMAC
Yeah but I get to drive a Blow Snower. Neener, Neener.

I had a friend ask why I didn't drive the car out 16 miles one way today. 48 degrees. Yes need the Fix till the bitter end. Around the block. More like.
Tell ya what, my shop/garage is 85 feet from my house and I spend a lot of time out there. Last winter the snow drifts got so bad at times, or it got so cold, that I got in the 4WD Tundra and drove it out of my heated garage, pushed the button on the rear view mirror (which opens the roll away door) and drove right on in. Then I would turn the heat on and spend the day out there. Then when one of our sons would call to see how Mom & Dad were out here in the country, I'd tell them "I drove to work today". When the day was over, I got back in the truck, plowed thru the drifts and back into the attached house garage. It is really neat...........
Well, I did it. I drove the "Lil' Bugger" to our little rural town to McDonald's for my yearly Traditional last day of insurance for the season. I had the traditional Hot Chocolate and now the "Bugger" has been put to bed for the winter. Who would have ever believed that it would be 45 degrees when I left at 8:00am and 52 degrees when I returned home at 10:00am. I sure had my fingers crossed this time. IT WAS GREAT
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL MY BUGGY FRIENDS AND THEIR FAMILIES.......................... Attachment: 769.JPG (600.3k)
Very nice.! Down here in S.Fla. we are having a VERY warm spell. Xmass will be in the mid 80's. I'm still waiting for the weather to cool off enough for me to shut the A/C down and open the house up.
