Than my wife cared for. Definite dune buggy Addict now, got a berry mini t lined up for the Next project, hopefully a real paint job this Time around
OK GUYS! Thanks to glassbuggy/ member here, looks like my blue
Obsession is an Alabama Glitterbug. Any info or other Pictures would be greatly appreciated
Hold the phone....... Did you install that windshield from something else? I have a few bodies on file with that odd unit.
Yes the windshield came from the red one that you said was the sand shark , the removable top and
the windshield that are on my blue buggy came off a different body( the red one) It had the typical windshield that most buggies have
Thanks again, in advance Glass , for your generous
time and effort helping me figure this out!
So is that it? Alabama glitterbug?????
Well to the best of my knowledge yes, however that windshield is very unique and I have some bodies on file with it that are unknown manufacturer. It could be your body was: 1) copied by that manufacturer 2) this body was assembled with a windshield frame found elsewhere 3)Alabama Glitterbug is the source of the unique windshield
I would call it an Alabama Glitterbug for now unless more info shows up, rarely do we ever get a smoking gun in determining the origins of buggy bodies unfortunately. The Alabama Glitterbug was an x file a year or two ago and until I happened upon a tagged body would have never thought it was even related to the Glitterbug family.
oh, I just read your reply about the red Sand Shark. So yes call it an Alabama Glitterbug. As for the Sand Shark well I don't know that they are the windshield source but the majority of bodies I have seen with this windscreen are shark type bodies. Sand Sharks were copied by others as well, most notably by Apache. Apache later incorporated the windshield into the fiberglass making the windshield glass removable. It could be Apache is the source of this windshield at one time. Jury is still out, I don't have a pic of your shark handy, does it have a shield type emblem bump on the hood? That would be an Apache trait if so
I know the location of the red one that we think is a sand shark which is where my windshield came from ,that is currently on my blue buggy the glitter bug, so next time I am out that way near my fathers I will try to get some pictures of that old Red sand shark? and see if there's any identification on it.
Hey Glass, I also just picked up a berry mini T I believe, if you could look it X-Files I am trying to get some pictures of it on there it will be my next obsession
No on the bump/ emblem
