I am now replacing all brake shoes and  cylinders and need some help to work out if I can convert to discs?
I believe it has already been changed to take  a set of cragers on a chevy pattern
the bug itself is a 1975 but need help as to how to determine what conversion has been done on the drums to work out what I need to change to discs?  any help or advice please

Yes you can convert to discs.

A 1975 Bug would have had a 4 bolt pattern. If you are running Cragars with a 5 bolt Chevy pattern you likely have adapters bolted to the stock VW 4 lug drums.

Many many places have disc brake conversion kits. Here is just one example:

Thanks but that's what's confusing me the drums have nothing bolted to them they are actually 5 bolt drums all round? Will post a pic soon if it helps

Well then they could have been blanks that were drilled for a Chevy pattern.
