Finally got some pics up, as of now I have completely disassembled it and started to rebuild from scratch. Long project but I love it.

Looks like a good project, what are your plans, leaving it in original gel coat ?
By Richard C 4102 Date 2014-08-11 21:07
Yeah the gel is still pretty good, I plan scuffing and applying a coat of clear with metallic in it to brighten it up again.
Completely apart now going to lift the body off and replace pans and all working parts. It helps working for a VW garage at times like this. Engine work in process now.

Yea I'd say yea working there would be a big plus HA HA i'm sure its in good hands cant wait to see it the original gel coat will add alot of value. I have friend that has a garage and he lets me use the lifts when I need to do a little tweaking. Of course I try not to get in the way of something that makes him money. He doesn't know much about vw's but hes a good ol school mechanic. Where did you find your Allison ?

I talked to a guy today that has a Allison that was original he said that he found a build sheet that was behind one of the tail light houseing since yours looks like it was original thought there might be one on it. I think it was just like a list of things the workers were suppose to put on the buggy.
