I took my buggy off the road for the winter as I posted in previous posts....
I'm in the process of doing all the things (trans leaks, gas tank relocation, etc.) that I found over this past summer that needed to be done.
Because I don't know what the motor is I pulled a head off the see. When I bought the buggy it was advertised as a 1800 cc motor with a mild cam and many performance parts. In after a close inspection (I Pulled a head off) it is actually a bone stock 1600cc. As for performance parts the only thing I can find is a new lightened fly wheel with a balanced clutch pressure plate. The motor is in pretty good shape a leak-down test indicates all cylinders are good two are great and two are in the O.K. range.
I'm considering my options. I want to upgrade from the stock 1600, but I feel it is a little too good to just tear apart and rebuild bigger. I could most likely sell it as a good stock motor if anyone is looking for one ( I have a couple of leads from folks looking). Does anyone have suggestions on where to find a 1776 or 1914 good street motor with a little pep????
I see Cip1 in calif. has a brand new long block 1914 high performance in the crate motor, has anyone had any experience with them good or bad????
In my neck of the woods (East coast, Pennsylvania area) there aren't many places that handle old VW stuff and there are even fewer machine shops that will machine them.
Any and all comments are as always welcome....

I've only boughten parts from them since I build my own engines but I couldn't be happier with CB Performance. I talked with Pat quite a bit about some improvements for my landspeed race engine and he was very generous with his time and knowledge.
