Do you have a LED gen light?
Do you rev it up to about 2k rpms?
Hey Jeffery I have to rev the motor on my Allison to get the alternator to charge then the light stays on ??? Ken..............
Ken,
Your light wired correctly? What type of alternator? Internally regulated?
If the lights on it's not charging. All the current aftermarket alternators have to reach a set rpm before they start charging ussually around 2000 motor RPM a bit higher with a power pulley. The dash light should have a key on power source to it and then the ground wire goes to the small terminal of the alternator. It will stay grounded (keeping the light on) till the alternator starts charging and opens the ground contacts in the alternator.

I havent a clue I took it back to him and it is supposed to be wired right, I have to rev it up a bit and the light comes on and it starts charging by the volt guage but the light stays on, I can deal with the light I guess because it is definately charging. Ken............ Oh yea Brad I dont want to jinx anything buy I may have a new toy july 11th I will post if it goes through. Ken..............
Does the light come on after the alternator starts charging on the gauge? If so, he has the light wired into the B+ circuit and not the D+ circuit. I've included a PDF diagram of how to wire an alternator
Live that dream Ken. If I'm ever shopping for another buggy I know who to contact!!!! Do you deliver? LOL brad Attachment: altwiring.pdf (290.7k)
Yep FIRE HER UP, HIT THE GAS , LIGHT COMES ON AND VOLT GAUGE GOES TO ABOUT 14 VOLTS, AND THE LIGHT STAYS ON, THANKS FOR THE DIRECTION , I STILL HAVE TO FIND A NEW EARLY TURN SIGNAL ASSEMBLYFOR HIM TO CHANGE OUT FOR ME THE OLD ONE DOESNT WORK FOR LEFT SIGNAL,WILL THE LIGHT STAYING ON HURT ANYTHING FOR A SHORT PERIOD ? THE SHOP FINALLY GOT BUSY AGAIN SO IT MIGHT SLOW ME DOWN ON BUGGYS FOR A WHILE, YEA RIGHT, BEACH THE WEEKEND OF JULY THE 4TH, THEN THE NEXT WEEK IF EVERYTHING GOES RIGHT I HAVE A LONG TRIP TO GET THE BUGGY OF MY DREAMS HOPEFULLY IT WILL ALL GO RIGHT, WISH ME LUCK KEN..............
Brad it came up no preview availiable when I tryed to look at it, OH YEA I FOUND YOUR TAG, Ken........
Never mind I cant find the picture it said " VWRACER " Ken...........
It will work as long as you want it to. It's just more annoying than anything having a light on all the time, but I guess you'll know it's charging LOL. I sent the post from home last night but the link works for me here from the shop computer too, I guess it's time to pack up the TRS 80 and get a newer computer there Ken LOL. If you can't open it goto CIP1dotcom go to electrical, high performance charging and click on any of the alternator kits there is a line that says something like "click here for wiring instructions" and see if you can get it there.
He doesn't by chance have the wires reversed on the alternator does he?!?!?!?!? This summer my plate should read "PARKED" We had another wicked storm last night with 4 inches of rain and golfball sized hail. We've now exceded our annual rainfall in 2 months. brad
No hes got the big wire to the battery and the other to the switch and light , you want me to find you a buggy with pontoons LOL, and full top and side curtains, maby its that little guy with the flag doing a rain dance he damn sure never stops waving that flag , Hope you get some buggy weather soon. Thanks Ken...............
What terminals are the wires on? The big one going to the battery should be on B+
More rain tonight with thunderstorm watch!!! Some streets were flooded up to your waist and a plumbing company we do fleet work for brought one of their F250 vans this morning on a hook. The water level on the door panel was even with the inside door handle!!!!! The mayor is on the radio begging everyone not to do laundry, run the dishwasher or take long showers as the sewers still haven caught up draining the rain from last night. Tomorrow is Canada Day (our July 4th) supposed to be nice...here's hoping brad Powered by mwForum 2.10.2 © 1999-2007 Markus Wichitill |
