a few months back, DB and Hot VW ran an article about a ratchet shifter for a VW tranny. Does anyone have any info on the manufacturer? I tried Googling vw ratchet shifter and came up with plenty results, but not what I'm looking for.

Thanks for any info. I can't seem to locate the article.

Search "MSE vertigate shifter".  They are bad ass for drag racing but understand these things are not a bolt in deal.

Moyer Station Enterprises makes them. They are also available from Ron Lummus Racing. Both have dot coms, but have VERY little info on these shifters on their sites. I asked about them on expect to pay from 8-1100 deneero's. I want one for my bug BADLY, they are too cool.

Thanks for the help guys. I've been in discussion with Bill from MSE about the vertigate shifter. Brad, I agree that the info on the shifters on line is lacking to put it nicely. I'm growing tired of my T-handle shifter I have in the buggy now. I'm not sure I can justify the expense though. I'm going to take the weekend to think it all over real hard!

JCL Race Cars also makes one specifically for the VW, not adapted from domestic application, they are pricey at $1250 but the racers that use them say they are the ultimate.

Jerry Matsko from J Bros. racing also makes one, not sure of price.

Like I said I want one for my bug, but ya, it's hard to justify the price when a $90 shifter gets the job done.

As mentioned, these do not bolt in and LOTS of fabrication is required.  PROPERLY SET UP, a Scat Dragfast can work almost as good as a verti-gate with a lot less cost.

John, thanks for the heads up. Heavy fabrication is something I actually enjoy, so that doesn't scare me. I'm going to look into the Scat Dragfast. I appreciate you mentioning a less expensive alternative.

Well, I decided against the vertigate shifter. I was hoping for some better photos before I spent that much money. All Bill kept telling me was go with them and I'll have the best. He did also reference their lame web site, which didn't give me a warm fuzzy about the product at all.

I'm sure it is a nice product, but without pictures, you're not going to sell many in this economy. Maybe when times were better, 1K would be something you could say goodbye to if the product didn't live up to your expectations, but not by today's standard.

I digress.... I decided to keep the shifter I have now, which really is a nice shifter. I've never missed a shift with this shifter, so I can't justify the expense for a nice looking accessory.

Hello everybody, from Brazil!
I noticed you are looking for a system for sequential gearboxes T1. I manufacture (in handmade scale) this system.

I developed it for use on a motorcycle that I built using engine and gearbox VW T1. But I decided to build more sequential systems due to high demand I had in Brazil. I have sold many units, and one of them I just sell to Mr. J.D. Curry in the USA that will use it in your beetle drag car. Watch my video on YouTube.

Thank you for accepting me in your group, excuse my English!
