I'm looking for a  yellow dune buggy in Sacramento,California. The owner or the driver is 6' 4" tall and now in his early 60's. I met the dune buggy in late April of 1974. I forgot the driver or owners last name but his first name is Bill. Is this enough information? Could you help me out or could you turn me onto someone who could? Much appreciated, robin

are there any yellow dune buggys that were created 1974 or before in California?

I would estimate that there were probably 20,000 dune buggies registered in California in 1974.
Of those Yellow was a very popular color so I would think there were most likely 1 in 3 that were yellow.
So that means about 6,600.

According to the census records from 1954 assuming that Bill was 20 in 1974, and that he was born in Sacramento, CA, there were 1836 boys born who were named William that year in that city.

So given that odds are pretty much impossible that William "Bill" who drove the yellow dune buggy in Sacramento CA in 1974, would see this message and reply.

But, best of luck on your search.

dont count on it John...i had a friend from 35 years ago find me here on DBA.  Bruce wrote in my forum on "oldest running Manx" and had someone contact me with his email.  He sent me pics from 1970 of me racing my manx.  We have since exchanged a few emails and when I move out to CA. in the next couple of weeks I will probably get together with him, him living in Riverside, ca.

He was looking to contact me and find out what happened to me.  In one of my posts I mentions Saddleback Sports Car Club, our slalom club in s. calif. in the 60-70s.  His google of SSCC sent him to DBF and we reconnected....so don't give up, put as much information on your posts about Bill, yellow dune buggy, etc and he might find you.

More information. In 1974, April, I met him with his friend in the courthouse downtown. They were both tall, thin with dark hair. That night we went to two parks in a yellow dune buggy. He was studying to be an investigator at McGeorge Law School. Now he's in his mid-sixties. Still 6'4". This took place in Sacramento, California.

During the day they were both wearing suits. At night he was wearing a tank top and shorts.
