Tom would be proud of me today.
I took his advice on the roll bar.

Even though the OG owner mounted it in the wrong position, and it looked cool there,
I am moving the roll bar to the correct location.
I pulled it out to mount the finished side panels this weekend.
I have neat trick for getting the roll bar in and out without scratching your paint.
Ratchet straps, I hooked them into the bottom of the tube snugged them in and
removed the roll bar by myself without a scratch.

Make the side panel template was easier than I thought it would be, too.
Now we will see if I am any good at stapling upholstery.
I need to get these in so everything will be done for Carlisle.

Also a question for Tom, do the Sombrero tops come in tan?
The black is kinda out of place with the tan carpet and upholstery.

I load some pics tomorrow.

"Tan" There you go. I will talk to you about it at the show.

Chucky baby, where have you been?

I'm still here every day, just don't post as much as I used to.  However, Jay's purdy red flake and your blurple buggy are getting me all hot and bothered.  Makes me want to get back on the ole blue project.  Wanna buy a golf cart?

Thats right yours was tan.
I forgot about that yellar.
With your black seats we should trade! ;-)

The reason for the tan top is that the buggy is slated to be blue.  Someday. Then the seats will be redone to match the top.

John, Glad the spring weather has gotten to you too! :-) Although it's been about played out, I still like it: Get-R-Done!

:-) Can't wait to see the finished buggy at the show.

Silicone the back sides and use cardboard tube to hold them in place overnight. No screws.

I got the panels built tonight and will get them installed tomorrow.
Here are some pics.
My first upholstery job. So be gentle with comments.
Had to get them done after 9 months of looking at it and wondering if I could do it.

Back boards from 3 ply at Lowes one sheet .........$11.55

Foam from Pat's upholstery ................................$7.35

Stanley Stapler from Lowe's .............................$29.95

Finished Panels ..........................................Priceless. !!!!

Just cross brace it, John. Tom suggested the tubes (think Staples for shipping tubes), but anything that you can get a good brace with will work. Just pad the ends so whatever you use doesn't mark the fabric.

Yup if you can't find cardboard tubes, use something like furring strips from home depot. I's like 3/4" x 1.5" and it's affordable. It can easily be cut to length. It will cost much less than ratcheting bars from Uhaul. As stated, pad with something to prevent marring.

I did get the panels done in time for the Funfest '09 show.
I was just looking back at this thread and realized I never finished the updates.

This week I am working on changing out the wheel adapters so they will all match.
