ok so I decided to build a Wonderbug replica for Dunebuggyarchives purposes, plus it needs to be done :-)
anyway I located the body and now it resides in the driveway. It amazes me that the family looks at this body and even say - poor Wonderbug when they walk past it. I want to do a page on the build so look for that shortly.
I am looking for side pods for a Dune Runner and I will make some repos, but I need help locating a set as the only car I've ever seen them on was Wonderbug itself. This is 30 plus years of body documentation so they are not easy to locate.

Thats not wonder bug. Its evil shlepp from the episode he got hypnotized.    (Geeez, I can not believe I remembered that.)

It definitely needs a magic horn ! (and lots of cash)

Lots of luck with the build man. If you need the correct Wonderbug wheels, they are the turbine corvette wheels.

Clockwork, I saw a previous post where you were going to build one also. Any progress?

John, Way ahead of you brother :-) I saw that tire a few weeks ago. I think these rims were also used on the z 28 Camaro. I saw a set last week but buying that body ate up the budget for the time being. I also determined the car was built from a 69 or 70 (assuming it was built from one donor vehicle). Some of the clues are that it was IRS and had a single port engine. The rims are 15 inch by the way, I have a still of the rear tire and wheel as well

A Wonderbug imposter showed up tonight at the TV Land awards.
I caught some screen captures for you.
Generic Manx style buggy with some dressings to look like Wonderbug.
Too bad they didn't contract the DBA to build one!

THAT was lame, the 40 something break dancers were a good second but That WAS LAME ! - gheeze
I've gotta go sit down, THAT was a terrible Wonderbug imposter, WOW, damn
You know Electra Woman was awesome, Puffinstuff was nailed- Wichipoo - in the flesh.
They totally blew Wonderbug, dropped the ball with the theme song and everything.
They used an Andek Brute by the way - what is that windshield ! it's as high as the mousetrap is
Ha Ha look at the swing axle trans fighting those casters, ow my head hurts now.
Dammit, I'm going to sit down
Bart

IT WAS ON FOUR CASTERS
OK i'm going

Hello,

I found this site when doing a search for "Wonderbug replica".

I was planning on doing a similar project and was wondering if anyone might know what type of steering wheel was used.

Sidepods !!!  These were the worst of the build to find  Dealing with the guy was very tedious to say the least, but they are home :-)

As for the steering wheel question, I think it is a common 3 spoke chain wheel from the 70's but I'm not sure of the diameter yet
having trouble posting pics for some reason so bear with me.....

I agree this so needs to be done.  Big fan of Wonderbug.   I think you can get a horn on ebay that is better than that one.   I have one actually.   Had it on my dune buggy for a while.    I have a wonderbug pedal car from the 70s.    Keep this thread posted on your progress.    Good luck Brah.

Yesterday I finally located a pair of 15'' turbine rims for the back of my Wonderbug project. I've had the front ones for some time. If the two rims on the left look smaller it's because they are 14'' ( I like the stance it gives a buggy ) Still acquiring parts but if I had the horn it would go much faster !

What's the correct body for a Wonderbug replica?

Looks to be a Dune Runner T bird according to the i d page.
Am I correct?
