Help. I got a late '60's Martin Enterprises, Inc dune buggy. Original gold-flake fiberglass, '57 chassis, '67 engine.
Who has info on Martin buggy bodies? U.S.A or Europe?
By Doug N 925 Date 2008-05-14 10:09 Edited 2008-05-15 01:57
It was listed on Samba last year. Yes, there is the teardrop indentations on each side of the hood, and a middle hood ridge. The rear is rounded, no cutouts, though the air intake of the carb extends vertical up thru a circular hole of the body, and it's centered behind the tag. Under the bench seat are two molded storage boxes, one for battery and one for storage.Click on attachment to see the emblem. Anyone got knowledge of Martin buggy bodies?

That looks more like a FiberFab to me.  It just has a different emblem on the front.  Look in the DBA archives for Fiber Fab and you will see what I mean.  I have a FiberFab.  Tom

Hey John,
Wow, that was some unexpected info. How did you know that history? p.o.? Unreal, man. Please post the photos for me. Is there any info I can get to you? Thanks! my buggy body rare?

By Doug N 925 Date 2008-05-19 19:16
Thanks for the pointing towards the Cloddhopper by FiberFab,. But, my front fenders have the original molded turn signals, and my gas tank filler is centered under the hood. Does it matter for identifying purposes?
John posted a good thread for me to look into, also.

Thanks! Doug

Hi John,
I called the company in Canadensis. They did not have any business before the early 1980's, and did not have any idea of another Martin Enterprises. Any additional info I can have would be greatly appreciated.

I had searched for the P.O. when the car was for sale before on ebay.
My buddy was real close to buying it.

Those detail photos are the thing that MAKES or breaks an ID case.
I remember the pic with the turn lights molded in now.
Definately a cousin of the Clodd Hopper but, not a Fiberfab buggy.

Here is what I had.

Ok, John. I did buy that Martin you have the photos of. If it's not a FiberFab...where do we go from here?
Looks like a good addition for your models gallery section? I have fixed it up even more as you can see from the posted photo (bmp.) So, I want to help you out for the Archives, too!

Do you think it's a collaboration of Devin and Martin-Waller of Folkestone, England of the 1960's?
Thanks for a great Forum for us all!

Doug did you create a free photo account and upload the photos there?

That is the easiest way for us to access them and use them on the website.
Email us back the link or post it in a message.

Did you check the company in South Bend Indianna?
There is a fiberglass manufacturer in the archives from the eightees at 574-340-7615 listed
as Martin Enterprise. If they are still around and made buggies back in the day, it might be them.
There are a ton of fiberglass shops in that area.

Doug, Paul and I have finally got the Martin added to the ID. One question for you if you can answer it though...

Is the dash molded as one piece with the hood or is it somehow joined to the hood either with fiberglass or possibly bolted to it?

Thanks for any information you can give us on this one.

By Doug N 925 Date 2008-07-14 20:35
Jay and Paul,
I will look into the dash attachment and reply with the info tomorrow! Thanks for a great website and forum!

By Doug N 925 Date 2008-07-15 15:16
Jay and Paul,
I checked the hood and dash thoroughly. It is one molded piece for sure.
