I got an e-mail, well actually three yesterday from MAM.  Is everyone (dune buggy people) planning to do all the events?  Poker run/cruise, BBQ etc?
By John S 2 Date 2008-05-22 12:48
Let's see....
BBQ yes.
Poker run... ? don't know what I would drive? My truck?
Cruise ... ? see above...
It is going to be a bummer not having a buggy at the show till it's over. Maybe I should have bought the 24' trailer and brought both.

Not sure for me I guess.

I plan to stop working on the buggy build for scheduled events.
I don't want anyone to miss other things going on.
Then I really think we will be able to get more work done Sat. night after the
scheduled events are done.

We have about 32 hrs to complete the build counting all night and ending Sun. afternoon.

You will need Ty Pennington and the design team to motivate everyone 32 hrs will go by fast.

The plan is for us to have three stations set up to be able to work on three areas at a time.

Will they have a "Just F@#$ing around" event with beers and cigars? If so, count me in. My brain hurts. I need a vacation.

Ron is a poopy head. I think you should banish him.

Ok, lets think logistics... How far is the nearest coffee establishment and how many drink carriers can you fit in that truck of yours John? LOL

I plan on enjoying the swap meet, lounging around the show area, hitting the cruise/poker run, relaxing at the BBQ and listening to the band.....Oh, and plenty of bench racing too.  I may even come by the build tent to harrass the builders :-)

Ron, sorry I missed the funny part. We would never banish you. (no root feeder in your stocking this year though.)
I was agreeing with you. Over focused I guess.

yes....a bullhorn.... Oh wait I will have the PA system every hour to do a LIVE update on the progress.

I just got the media kit today in the mail. Pretty cool a DVD on the history of Funfest and MAM.
A nice map booklet and guide to the show and the events.
And right there under the section on Bruce Meyers, dunebuggyarchives.com dune buggy build!!!!!
After 10 years of promoting the dune buggy hobby, finally we might get some really attention.

Tom, When this is over I am taking a vacation.....where was that offer to vacation and help someone with a buggy again????    :-)

Mid America never followed up so I guess I will have some free time to work on the buggy.

I said I wasn't going to do it but in a moment of weakness I caved and decided to do a little work on Johns buggy.  I couldn't help myself, I guess I can't pass up the chance to work with a bunch of buggyaholics on a buggy! Now I wish I could have spent more time in the tent working on the build.
John, you are going to have a top notch buggy when it's done.
I hope you can DRIVE it to MAM for next years Funfest. I'd like to see it all finished.
I also enjoyed finally meeting everyone.......Let's do it again next year!
Jerry....

Jerry,
It was good to meet you, and I KNOW it was tough. It was very tough for all of us on the build to not be hanging out as much as we wanted to. I really missed looking at buggies and taking pictures and just talking about buggies.
I know the guys working on the car missed lot of the other show activities and I can't thank them enough for sacraficing time at the show to work with us.

It is a tough balance. I used to do the swap meets selling parts and always felt like I never got to see the show.

The cool thing is, I found my way out there so, there is no reason we can't find our way back again.
The next time we get together it will definately need to be more relaxed and spend some time just kicking back and talking buggies.

Thanks again.
