Starting when I was 17 years old, in 1968 to 1969, I constructed my dune buggy, which was also my first car to own. It was built on a 1957 VW (yes, non-synchro 1st gear). The picture is of me in the buggy in San Jose, California in 1969 (did not yet have the moon hubcaps, nor the convertible top). Also included is a picture of the post card from the ACE Enterprises, with my buggy on the left. Note that I had the side edges shortened to reduce the look of thickness. I do not remember if ACE had model names for each of the three styles they produced at that time. Mine was the Manx-ish style, which differed from the Manx most notably by wider fenders and the Diamond bump on the nose. They also made an IMP-ish design plus were just bringing out a sort of Ford T-bucket design (on the far left in purple). I sold mine in 1971 as I was in college in Idaho, and without a heater, is was just too impractical. Plus I was already on my third used engine, but the last was the best, being a 1500cc 50hp transporter engine.

Cool, I graduated from Nampa High in 71, went into the military. Would have bought yours if I knew it was for sale back then.
