The California Clipper was built by the President of our local VW club, he had a stroke and copd, he sold it to a car flipper , so i rescued it and traded it to a local couple , prevoiuse owner was happy that his baby got a good home, and the couple that got it are happy. The buggy now lives in there garage with their Harley to keep it company.
This is the one I have now, not sure of who made it back in the day, new carbs, new rancho tranny, new brakes, great chassis !!! may keep it and paint it res and make back seat ??? Have 2 slots for the rear to give it matching wheels. I told you all Dune Buggys are a addiction, LOL

Came out Beautiful Tony !!! Good to hear from you and Glassbuggy. Im still fooling with the classic cars but still get a buggy from time to time. Moving from the old home place if our contract goes through on our property on Sep 1st, found me a new place and have a contract on it, going to have to build a shop there, still got a few resources on buggies, might check on the Allison truck i know about , need to get me another one to enjoy !!!
Oh I forgot, the Green buggy allready has a new home , sold it to a gentleman about a hour from me, he built a buggy back in the late 60s and wanted to find one to fix up, he got a good one !!!
Hey Ken, you still out there?
Brad
Yes sir Brad im still kicking, Hows it going in Canada /
Well i guess i can qualify these as # 46, 47, and 48. I had a Gentleman from N.C email me looking for a Allison truck he built in the early 70s, Gave him contact info on the other two i sold but after some investigation he found out neither one was his old truck. I still had another contact so i contacted that man and set up a appointment to look at his 3 buggies, I called the other gentleman to come look and BAM it was his Allison truck he built in the early 70s,Offered to carry the truck home for him and we loaded the other two in his inclosed trailer, ANOTHER BUGGY SAVED !!! The Kudzu had grown over top of the buggies since the last time I had seen them, I only owned them for about a hour and didnt make much but its not allways about the money, to me its about saving these pieces of history and when possible putting a buggy back with its original owner, Enjoy Tony i look forward to seeing the Truck back on the road !!![img][/img]

Hi Ken, things are going good these days. I was in a bad accident a work 3 years ago and my left leg took a beating but it's mostly alright now. I've quit working on cars for a living and I'm now working as an industrial mechanic overhauling large breakers and switch gear for industry and utilities for the last year and a half. I sold the green Oval that I raced at Bonneville in 2014 as well as my back up race engine and a formula Vee that I was going to build into a lakester. I'm building a new buggy to race at Bonneville. I've narrowed a beat to death Deserter Mk1 body 12" and I'm building a single seat tube chassis for it. I made a surprise visit to Bonneville last week to visit with all my racing buddies and have a nice non stressful visit to the salt. Other than that just getting ready for winter, might be snow next week. Still have my Bounty Hunter and have been gathering parts for 3 years including a rare mostly NOS set of VDO Jet Cockpit gauges. I've also located my dream car a very very clean 1968 Ghia originally from California.
Cheers.
Hey Brad H, It is good to hear that the injury is better. Life does help make decisions for us. Hope your salt build goes well. Wow, a 68 Ghia, very Nice!
Hello Ken, you still into the radio controlled stuff? I admire both you guys and the things you do. I am pretty much just a side liner anymore. I have found that it is time to simplify life and get rid of Stuff. Look forward to seeing your posts from time to time on here. Lloyd Powered by mwForum 2.10.2 © 1999-2007 Markus Wichitill |
