I traded a car for this buggy body. The man who had it knew nothing about it and I'm having a really hard time trying to identify it. Any help would be appreciated

I can not get photobucket to upload my images but I'd be willing to email them to whomever could help

If you want to email them to me, I will try to get them on your thread, just need to remind me your user name in the email,  I tend to forget things.    Will send you an email so you can send to me.  Watch for it, if you do not see it check spam filter.

Lloyd

PS. you may have to make your pictures smaller, that can be done via  the program  "paint" on a windows computer.  Generally at least 40%  reduction works.  after that you should be able to attach them to a post that you have already posted.   you should see a button on the bottom that says "attach".

The dash and hood are all one piece. There's a speedometer there it's painted black but it would be on the left side of the steering wheel. Haven't found a stamp that could tell me who manufactured it. I seriously know nothing about the buggy. It's very neat and sparked my interest is love to restore it but I'd like to know what it is

This is an easy one. What you have is a Safari

Was hoping you would show up Glassbuggy.

I don't think that is a Safari. The Safari has the tail box close to the body. Your tail box sticks way out at the top, making the license plate perpendicular to the road. The Safari license plate would be angled to the road.

Yes. The tail is not like any Safari I have seen. Certainly not like the one that I had. If someone modified the tail box that could account for it. These bodies have been around for decades. it's not a stretch to think someone may have done some modifying. Cut and extended. A picture taken underneath to check for added fiberglass work would tell a lot. The rest of the body looks right for a Safari.

Mike,
Modification is certainly possible. The other possibility is a deliberate change to an existing body and then sold as a different manufacturer/model. That''s why we see so many bodies today that appear to come out of the wood work so to speak.

Let us know what you find out under that tail box.

Sorry I haven't checked this in awhile. I didn't think it matched up quite with a safari. I'll get under it and take pictures for you guys to look at.

I have a Safari too I believe, although mine has been heavily modified and trimmed, but the hood and rear fender shape looks the same and I was reading that the Safari has low cut sides for easy entry and exit.
