Doesn't seem to be much going on these days on the DBA :-(

I've noticed that too, kinda quiet these days. Maybe it's like the old saying, "No News Is Good News".
Everyone's buggies must be running great, I know mine is but I still like reading the posts of others.....

I agree! Haven't heard from any of the founders, John, Jay or Paul in a long time. I still check it every day to see what's new and hoping that some of the old timers check back in like Allison Daytona Ken. I think that dude bought and sold 30 some glass buggies in a 2 or 3 years span a few years back. I think Ken was from the Rock Hill, SC area. I've had a lot on my plate lately and hope to get back to work on the Scorpion body this weekend and have her on the road by spring. Dead as it might be, it is still the place to id your buggy and to get help on your glass buggy.

Yea it has been quit, I just got back on, forgot my pass word but got it reset, I haven't heard from Ken since around the time I bought his buggy. Theres a nice purple and white Allison in his neck of the woods its orgin gel coat. Maybe he'll come back on.

Vince, do you still have your buggies? You sold the blue Allison awhile back, what about the silver Allison? Do you still have your wife's yellow one? Welcome back!

I still got Silver and maroon one long body, never had a blue one, had a go cart with an Allison body but sold it to a guy at Amelia Island FL. The go cart was blue and white. Theres a red and white Allison on the Samba for 5500 OBO I think its in SC. Looks pretty good decent price. I think its Original gel coat.

Hi Fellow Buggy Enthusiast,
I am also one that has to share in the lack of posts. I would love to be working towards the completion of my buggy but can't seem to stay away from doctors and hospitals lately. If I ever get straightened away The buggy is at the second spot on the bucket list, second only to completing the garage that I started a while back that will house it completion. In the meantime I have to settle for gathering information and parts.
I still check in from time-to-time and greatly enjoy reading posts about problems encountered by buggy owners, then trying to come up with a plan in my head as to how I would solve the problem(s). Most of the time I am on the right track but I don't have the VW specific knowledge that others have. The Archives is a great classroom with many instructors that have subject specific information and knowledge to help those that are having troubles with their vintage rides.

I just saw the first Allison I bought for sale in Lakeland FL CL, when I had it I traded it back to Ken and got his long body Allison. I texted the guy and he had got back with me last night, he got it from the guy Ken sold it to. This guy was asking 13,500, but in his text he sold it for 9500. It had a hot stroker eng and new trans, seems somebody got a good deal maybe the new owner will show up on here or the FB group. The First owner in FL Kevin sold me the steering wheel off of it for shipping cost. Ken had taken it off and had a after market wheel on the long body. I offered Ken a 100.00 bill for it but he said no. I got it from Kevin for 30.00. So my buggy has the original wood steering wheel. Buggy on have a safe day.

It's not just here, it's all the specialty forums. Many are falling by the wayside as forum members get older and cars tend to sit. Could be the time of year, could be economy.. buggies and kits are getting very quiet lately..

I still check in once in a while. More lately than in the past while. I was busy with my racing and changed jobs a couple of times in the last year and abit. Life has been fairly hectic. This was the first automotive forum I belonged to and it still feels like home to me. Hopefully I'll be starting on my Bounty Hunter soon so will begin a build thread for that here.

Rick, you are correct.  I am on several Forums, the traffic is down.  A lot of us are getting older.  It is harder for a young person to even afford some of the different types of vehicles out there.  Some are getting hard to find parts for, such as the Internationals.
I hope that more young folks come to all the different Automotive forums, but especially the vintage ones.
Those folks that really like this forum might try to contact the "main" guy's who started this one, see if there are things you can do to help keep it going.  I know that I spend a lot of time on the International site I admin, I also spend some time on here, and try to help with keeping the "bad" guys(spammers) off of here.  When I am aware of them I block their IP's.
Thanks to all you guys who do post and keep this one active! Welcome to any new folks, still the best buggy site around as far as I know.

My Deserter build is still going but very slowly. Nothing photo worthy. Just details that take a bunch of time but don't show. My only build thread is here on DBA and when I have picture worthy progress I will continue my thread.

Michael T,

You're right about the "boring" parts of a rebuild. When I restored the "Lil' Bugger 2 years ago, it seemed like I wasn't getting anywhere for a long time. Then, all of a sudden, it all came together. That's when it really makes you feel good. But it's those very important "boring" times that count for everything.

Good Luck..........

The devil is in the details and I know I enjoy looking at all the little things guys do when building their cars. As mundane as you think doing something small on your car is, it might give someone and idea or let them know how to approach a particular project when building or modifying their car. I know when I built mine I tried to show as much as I could for those reasons nd when I build my next one I will do the same thing.

Any body got a pulse? Going to be working on the Manx body today to get it off the chassis. Down to the main bolts along the body. So its going to be slow grinding the heads off. Will be putting the chassis up for sale with the engine. The engine is a AJ block AS 21 case, it does turn but been sitting up. That will be less carb Im keeping that for a spare for myself. Chassie is ruff appears to have a adjust beam. Throwing the 66 Mustang seats with it 650.00. Will roll. Going to get tires for it this morning. Its in 31792 area code.

First time back on since I posted. Good to see some folks are still alive :-)
By Lloyd B 2301 Date 2015-11-01 03:53
I may not post much, but I am on almost every day.  As with the OldIhc Forum that I work on, I also try to make sure that the "bad guys" spammers are soon kicked off and banned.  I hope to get to work on one of my own buggies one of these days.
I enjoy reading and learning from all that post, keep up the good work!

No Buggy work lately. I have been working on my 1999 Chevy Silverado. I noticed some frame rust issues and decided to remove the bed and fix it. I discovered some pretty serious rust so l've been doing nothing but repairing that. I need this truck for important things like supporting my VW and Buggy addiction.

Jim,
My dad isn't online as much as he used to be.
He took a new Construction Project manager job 3 years ago and works a ton of hours.
We still have 3 buggies.
I know he wants to have more time online.

Always like reading what you guys are doing.
Take care,

Joey Shepard

HI Joey, You must be old enough to drive the buggy we built for you at the DBA Buggy Build in Effingham. Is it on the road? Paul...
