Everyone has known that Wards sold Bandits (not to be confused with the stolen name Bandits currently made in CA).  I just bought a catalogue from e-bay, but the Dune Buggy is not a Bandit !  A search through the archives tells me this Wards catalogue was selling Andeck Brutes. The 3/4 view in the catalogue is even the same car in the archives ! I am baffled. This catalogue came from New York, so I wonder if Wards sold different buggies in different regions.

Well that is possible, fire us a scan of the catalog pages. The Sears Rascal originally was supposed to be BF bodies and a few were sold through Sears but Terra Buggy was the main supplier. Terra Buggy seemed to slip in quality and ability to keep up in demand as later catalogs showed some interesting addresses for where bodies were being shipped from. Spatz was one of the addresses and I saw one catalog that the body was a Mini T. On top of this are two Rascal dash pickups that are really Sand Flee Pickups with Sears stickers on the hood. Sand Flee's were made in Fla. So yes, it is likely Wards did the same thing. Remember these catalogs just offered bodies, they did basically a service in advertising and got a cut of the profits

Here it is: Wards spring and summer 1970 from New York.  I expected to see a Bandit, but Wards did the unexpected !
