We Found this Glitterbug north of Tallahassee. It Has both ID tags
but they have a "shell road, mobile Alabama" address, not Truman rd. Cal. Like all the others I've seen. Anybody see one like this before? Anybody know how many shops did they had? We will be getting to this one soon hopefully... Dune Buggy Brothers strike again!
Trying to get pic to attach...

I have an Alabama Glitter Bug I just started refurb on (after a 3 year delay).
It is on a full length 61 chassis but I am working on a 70 chassis for it. Are there many Glitter Bugs out their? Kirt
Just got my new Glitterbug tags in the mail! They are etched relief. The black parts are recessed. They look and feel sweet! Much nicer than the simple silkscreen printed original.

I grew up just up the road from the original San Fernando Auto Body on Truman Street, which later became known as San Fernando Buggy. The shop that created the Glitterbug brand of fiberglass buggy. I own a Glitterbug Sportsman (with pickup bed) and a Hi Jumper tube frame rail by them and a US Trailer brand buggy trailer by them also. And I have the pan for an early pre-fiberglass San Fernando Buggy. My brother's father-in-law was the buggy shop manager when it was separated from the auto body repair shop until the body shop was closed down and the buggy business moved back into the body shop premises. I was a customer of the shop for many years until it closed when Bill Harkey Jr. (son of the founder, Bill Harkey Sr.) sold the rights to the tube frame buggy designs to Prowler's and retired.
With all that history with the business, I never heard of the Alabama Glitterbug production until the 1st time I read this thread.
They were built by Doug Wimpey at his shop in Mobile, Alabama. I have owned one of his builds since 1969. He bough bodies from Glitter Bug and sold with "GlitterBug" label an Old Shell Road address, Mobile, Alabama.
I just got this one with no tags. I'm assuming it's a glitter bug but am not sure. What do you think?
