What kind of shifter are you using? Do you like it? Love it? What would you do to make it better? Long throws vs. short throws? Would you spend more $ for a better one?

I like Scat Drag Fast shifters but they take time to install and adjust/tweak to perfection.  I CANNOT stand a shifter that does not work perfectly.  I have a Scat in my street bug

Berg and CSP are top of the line in my opinion.  Berg is the cats ass because they offer several different heights, curves and throws.  Also Berg has a locking shifter that all buggy owners should consider.

If you're looking for a classic look, genuine Hurst shifters are hard to beat.  I have a restored Hurst in my buggy build and can't wait to put it to use.

A stock shifter with a short throw kit can work very well too and is dirt cheap.  That's what's in my son's Ghia and it's crisp.

Thats what I am looking for, a quicker throw.

Mine is a Stock 1958 VW Beetle right from the original Donor Car. I still have the original knob which I switched out for a numbered leather knob.  Has the shift pattern on it.

I run a Bugpack "T" handle shifter in my sand rail and my Manx. and I run a Flat 4 "T" handle shifter in my Baja. Both shifters work fantastically and have for many years. 

I installed a empi T-handle with push button. It makes a TOTAL DIFFERENCE! Short throws and more precise.  Easy install only two bolts.

Your EMPI shifter looks like a clone of the Bugpack shifters I use.

Most likely yes, But  it was $45.00. And it works..LOL.

I have a Bugpack "T" handle in my buggy and a SCAT dragfast in my Beetle. I love them both. I've tried a Berg, it's nice, but not worth it for me.

You know what, I still use my 1958 beetle standard shifter that is in the '58 original beetle tunnel. I did add a numbered shift knob however. (shows the shifting pattern) I love the Nostalgic look and feel along with my Original Beetle steering wheel.  the "Lil' Bugger"..
