Another dune buggy brothers score! 12 hours driving, but the trailer got this 73 ally to the homestead! Looks like this early pan won't work with this molded in console. I'm thinking this was the reason he "lost interest." I'd sure be frustrated after new disc brakes, pans, ball joints, shocks, steering box, only to find out- This pan won't work... Argh!
Good thing there's an uncut 74 chassis handy waiting for a body, because I can't begin to consider cutting out this console. Looks like she was originally orange flake with white stripes. Seems totally undamaged! No soft glass anywhere. Both front seats came with it! ![]() ![]() ![]()
Whats the plan back to orange with white stripes ? Ive only seen one orange it was a short body.
Hard to say. That's probably a good idea. I grew up in Clemson territory. White and orange is very tempting. Now that you mention it, never seen many brilliant orange flake buggies. Usually root beer.
Gonna get her sanded to the gel coat at least for buggies on the beach. Most of the old flake is dogged out to reddish turd color. Under the hood shows the brilliant orange that once was. The old school Shelby cobra sixtys on the back are pretty sweet. No dryrot at all! She came with a pair of 13's 14's and 15's. Finally, a project that's not a fiberglass basket case! ![]() ![]()
It looks like there going to alot of long bodies at Buggys on the Beach. Its going to make a great picture with that many in one spot.
Jacksonville Shriners do a parade here in the spring. They had about 7 long Allison's in the parade. And a couple Allison go-carts! If they show up, it's gonna be sick!
We need an Ally truck to show up!
Dang what color combo are the Shriners buggys there ? also how far are you going to take this new project before buggys on the beach? Also I got a Allison body go cart FOR SALE but I think its bigger than the originals its 7ft long bumper to bumper its blue and white its on the Samba.
