So I finally got started on my Kellison Super T clone, I picked up a '69 bug, a 71 Super Beetle (the orange one) and a bunch of engines and parts, I'll be using the '69 for the buggy build, and was thinking of doing a Baja bug with the Super Beetle.
This is going to be a slow build, as it will have to be done as finances allow.

The body is off, and stripped of any useable parts.
There was not much salvageable from the body, just the doors, hood, decklid and glass, the body and fenders where to far gone.
The chassis is good, except for the front beam, they make repair pieces for the lower shock towers, but I don't know whether to try repairing them, or just buy a new beam, any opinions on that?

Buy a better beam. Typically when shock towers are that far gone, the rust has really done a number on the lower tube also. I've seen holes eaten into the lower tubes where the crusty toweres have held dirt and moisture on the tube.

You'll also find the lower bearings (uppers also maybe) to be seized. If not I'd be surprised.

New beam with adjusters already added for sure.

I have about 3/4 of the chassis sandblasted, but I am not sure if I am going to use it (on this project), it needs new floor pans, a new front beam, bushings and brakes, virtually everything.
I was looking at the chassis of the '65, and all it needs is the passenger rear floor pan, I really wanted this to go to someone who would restore it as original, but so far I have had 6 people say they where coming out to look at it, but none of them ever showed up, so frankly I'm getting a bit fed up.
I should have this chassis blasted by the weekend, then I'll hit it with a coat of primer and put it off to the side for now, then bring the '65 down to the garage, and pull the body off to get a better look.

Well it looks like this project is being put on hold indefinitely, I just had a major heart attack (they did 7 bypasses) and just got out of the hospital yesterday.
The doctor says 6 months before I can even look at a wrench again.

My Brother in Law went through a triple a couple months ago, he is still moving slow.  You take it easy, all things mechanical will still be there when you are back to 100%.   Glad that you came through the surgery. 

I'm starting to feel a lot better, and am going to start working on the buggy again, the funny thing is that while I was recuperating from the surgery, I found two more buggies identical to mine, and both are local, so I am wondering if these bodies where made here in western Canada or maybe in Washington state?
Has anyone seen these anywhere else?
