Anyone using an 8volt battery, I run old 1/2 classic trucks and use 8volt battery it turns over better and lights are brighter and have not noticed any problems in the last three years in my old trucks , put one in my VW last year and it works great , you will have to set the voltage up in the regulator , I am producing 9.4volts at full throttle and 7volts at idle ,got about 300 km on the VW with the 8volt battery .

It's pretty simple to replace the generator (and usually the starter) and do a 12 volt conversion. I think most people (including me) have just done this.

I didn't even know there were 8 volt car batteries.

Battery was the same price as a6volt , lights are brighter and no issues with points or any other options did run a 12v radio but it didn't like it it got fuzzy  if VW was idling  , I think radio likes 10volts or more ,the only reason I didn't switch to 12v was I don't have any accessories that required 12v and with the 8volt battery the starter liked it and starts better .
