The release bearing went.  Engines out.  Bearing is fine but hardware that holds bearing is shot.  Do I order a new bearing with hardware?  Any thing special to know?

Just make sure you get the right style. There are two different styles.

Unless the bearing is really new I would replace it with a good heavy duty unit. The cost is really small and its such a pain to yank everything out again should the one you resue decide to fail.

two styles huh?  the lever arm is like two hooks.  I cant tell what what the old one looked liked.  It disintegrated.

Spend the extra buck and get the heavy duty clips. They have a coil on them and won't fail like hte stock ones do. If the bearing spins easy it's out of grease, just replace the whole unit. I agree it's a PITA, might as well do it once. Also check the clutch disk. If you can slip a 7mm open end wrench over the edge of the disk it's worn out, replace it also.

Found bits and pieces of clips all around inside bell housing.  Started making a noise like a bicycle card in spokes. Its my fault, i didn't replace it when i did the clutch.  Can take engine out in 40 minutes now.

That's the great thing about buggies. When you burn your hands on the exhaust putting the motor in AFTER changing the tranny you know you have a car that's easy to work on :-)
