Hello all,
I am new to the group, and just wanted to introduce my self. I do not own a buggy...yet. I have been wanting one for many years, and never really had the opportunity until now. I found a supposed 1968 Kyote dune buggy with a 1974 VW 1600 dual port engine. The seller is asking 5500 for this, so I was wondering.
1.) Is this really a Kyote? If so what model is it?
2.) Is it worth 5500?

The fact of the matter is, this buggy is over 4 hrs away, so I want to know what I'm in for before I drive all that way.

Any insight is greatly appreciated.. Thank you in advance

Hello Justin, I am no expert by any means, however, I have a shell that looks like that one. I also have a Jefferies Kyote.  The KYOTE has a narrow ridge down the hood area.  the one you picture is a clone, having my two bodies side by side, from the top, the ridge and rear area(battery box area) are the only difference I can see between the two. Under the hood, the fuel tanks are a little different.  Where are you located? I am in Idaho.

Thanks for the respone Lloyd.
I am in Baton Rouge, La
I kind of thought that maybe it wasnt a Kyote, and possibly the owner didn't know what he had because he kept calling it a Kyoto several times until I corrected him. We'll see, whatever I buy is going to be just right. I am looking for a 4 seater so that i can bring my wife and 3 year old on rides. Any ideas?

Justin, Check out the Classifieds on our board and also http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds, One of our members has a barris mini-t for sale, and I am sure there are others out there that will seat 4.

Yes Justin, the mini T would fit your requirements for a four seater, as long as they're not full size. I'm probably a little too far away for you but my mini T is still for sale for anyone interested.

Jack
