That is definitely crazy. Comparatively speaking, a Manx would be worth astounding money then.

I will keep the two I bought on Ebay several years ago. I paid $20.00 for the pair. When they are bringing $1000 each on a regular basis, it will be time to sell them. :-)
By Allison Daytona Ken Date 2011-04-27 18:19
Ill give you 10 for one, LOL
By Lloyd B 2301 Date 2011-04-28 04:49

Oohh....I want the two outer Nose badges....priceless!

$1975.00  I now feel better about spending $1500 for my blue Manx body that had a fork lift run into the side. It came with the original badges and serial number plate.

Just an FYI:

I just sold this to this guy last week and represented it as a rough reproduction of a Manx SR2 badge, not original. Interesting story though.
By MonoManx7 (manxologist) Date 2011-05-09 03:01
I am jealous you picked up a complete Manx for that cheap!

I hope that you got at least 85$ for the badge!
What a scheisster.

I look forward to seeing you in October.
By SurfNC Date 2011-05-11 01:09

I wish it was a complete Manx but it was only the body and a rough one at that.

I did find one with a serial number plate (Actually Jim "Wetstuff" found one for me) in Maryland that was sort of complete for less than $1000. But the pan was toast and it to was basically a body only as well.

On the badge, he paid me a little less than $85 which I thought was fair for what it really is, and what I represented it as.

Looking forward to October as well.  I plan to be at Carlisle in a few weeks, maybe see you there?

This is classic, I got home from work today and I got an e-mail from the guy I sold the badge to.

This is a quote:

"Thanks for the badge, however my 3 year old was playing with it and I can't find it any where. Did you mention that you had one more? Let me know my manx looks naked with out it."

Obviously his 3 year old sells stuff on ebay:

Ya know Vince, some guys just don't get that the VW community is really small and that most of us know what and where to look for some things. So tell him yeah, I have another - for $2500.00 :-)
By Kellison Jim Date 2011-05-14 02:39 Edited 2011-05-14 02:42
I would have some fun with this guy! Tell him that the guy who bought it is a buddy of yours and he's pi$$ed that he sold him a fake (reproduction). Or bluntly ask him what percentage you get from the ebay sale. Keep us posted...

Reading these Manx plastic emblem bidding wars sucks for me. All our Manx came with was one lousy sticker. wink

By Bryan A 229 Date 2011-05-14 14:14
So - THIS is how Vince is funding his retirement...  hawking fake badges!  We don't need no steenkin' badges!

By Brad H 1498 Date 2011-05-14 15:32
I would totally do what Jim said and tell him your buddy us reporting him for fraud, or that you'll replace his missing one for $1500 plus a cut of the e-bay action.

By SurfNC Date 2011-05-15 17:24
I decided to help him out since his 3 year old lost it for him.  Here was my e-mail back.

"I found it for you: "

Simple, to the point and he knows I know what he did.  If I hear back I will send him links to this thread and the one on the Manx Club site.  I may do that anyway.

Vince, you know his jaw hit the floor when he saw your link and I think there's a good chance you won't be hearing from him anytime soon.

I have one Gary, just send me 2000 dollors in a padded envelope, and I will have my 3 year old son bring it to you on his tricycle, LOL, Just kidding I dont even have a son.              Ken.......................
By Tom & Kathleen I 639 Date 2011-06-07 17:59
I had a Fiber Fab for years.  That name didn't bother me.  It was the Clodhopper part I didn't like!  I think they needed a better guy in the marketing/advertising department.  LOL  Tom

By Allison Daytona Ken Date 2011-12-14 02:26
I would drive it to them on a tricycle, anybody got a tricycle that will carry a 280 pound man ????
By andrew s 1965 Date 2011-12-14 11:52
You might be able to swipe one from a clown when circus comes to town??
By Mike S 1784 Date 2011-12-14 20:23
You guys must have miss the one last week the went quick with a "buy it now" for $800. At these prices people are going to be finding bodies with badges and scrapping the bodies and just selling off the emblems. Way easier to sell and ship....crazy!
By Jeffrey P 655 Date 2011-12-14 20:43
Wonder what the knock-off one I got on my Hartland SR is worth?
By ManxBug Date 2011-12-16 05:08
I'm so glad I bought mine from the manx store for about $50 5 years ago now!
By Kellison Jim Date 2012-01-03 03:54
Here we go again, but there is a catch this time. The cat who's selling this one for $1500.00 bought two of them from the same seller for $800.00 each within the last month. My thinking is if he gets $1500.00 he's actually only paying $100.00 for the one he keeps for his Manx. Smart boy!

I need to look for pictures, but at the last TX VW classic there were a handful of buggies from the Kerrville area that had some different Meyers Manx emblems on some of the members buggies.

The emblems were a little smaller in size, and I think were stick um's
