Hello and happy I found your site, I recently bought a buggy for a project for my son and myself the pink says its a '61.  The original owner has begun some work on it when I bought it the body was off the chassis and I couldn't find any manufacturer plate I have these photo's hopefully someone can say what type of body this is.  It has a hard top with a soft rear window.

They are very similar. More photos would help! Also, try to reduce the size of your photos.

Yea if you look close you can see my sons arm holding the roof up...lol. So much going on with this thing I have to replace part of the square tubing for the floor pans they are rusted out by the front corners.  I reduced the size of my photos and they still came out super huge so not sure what is going on with that.

I use PAINT and reduce mine by at least 50% if you go back and delete your first image and then re add it it will also help the followin g pictures be more visable

You'll find we luv bustin guys on small details, all in good fun though LOL

First off, welcome to the DBA. There is plenty of help here, and as Brad says... We like to pick on the details. I think it's because of all the time we spend trying to ID buggies, we're used to looking at the details.

Anyway, I toggled your first picture embedding off, so the picture you had showing in the first post is still there, it's just an attachment....  and I did not change the size of it.

If you want those pictures to show in the first post, you can click on "ATTACH" again, and toggle embedding back on. If you want them to be smaller, then click on "ATTACH", delete each one from the board, then upload the pictures again in the smaller size.

JEZZZ John dont pay those guys any attention, they know absolutely nothing about Dune Buggys, LOL, We all know the mirror is facing that way to blind on coming traffic with their bright lights on !!! A big RV mirror works better, or even better than that take the mirror from your dresser in your bedroom cut a six inch hole out for the drivers side of the buggy to see through and mount it on the hood, roflao, and there is only 2 lights on the back of your buggy, its just a double exposure picture !!! Now wait if there's beer I am there but I'm sure we won't get much done on the buggy, the mirror I had facing that way when the wife drove in with the truck she did blind me so i flipped it, show her whose boss. Yea that didn't work she is.....rofl. thanks for the welcome all. The only thing I have to ask is how far show I sand the old paint for the new paint job should i take it down to the original paint or primer or all the way down and reseal the fiberglass?

Ken, should speak up, cause I think this might be his area of expertise.  My opinion and experiance is to take it down so there is no loose stuff. if painted over gel coat, then down to the gel coat. fill, sand, fill, sand,fill, sand, you get the idea. smooth surface makes for pretty paint job. One of the fellow here has lightly sanded his gel and used a boat product, looked real good.
Like said, my paint experiance is from about thirty yrs ago.  So What do I know.

Thanks Lloyd yea my son and I were talking about the paint job we wanted; we are going with a midnight metallic blue with pearl flakes so it changes color as you drive by, on the bottom side panels we are going to airbrush a skull on them so when you drive by it turns and watches you so it will be a little work but fun to do.

A DA sander and a lot of work, LOL, take it down with 80 grit on the DA, grind any stress cracks and lay down cloth and resin, any cracks all the way through clean backside and lay on some cloth and resin, then dish out the top side of bad cracks and lay down multiple layers of cloth and resin, after drying grind repaired areas just a tad low enough to put on a skim of body filler, work all that with a rubber blocker with 36 grit, then go over that with 80 grit, you will be ready to prime the body at that point, polyester primer will stretch and shrink with the body as they do stretch and shrink from summer to winter. If you are doing a dark color I suggest you block sand the whole car and then prime her again, then wet sand with 400 or 320 grit ( no courser than 320 ) wet and dry sand paper and you are ready to pre clean tack and paint.                    Ken.......................
