i have a 1958 vw dune buggy the problem is that i just bought a e brake handle due to the fact that i never had one the add said that it would work though it looks as if i can not install it due to the fact that wear the cable runs will not fit into the chassis hole any help would be nice thanks
![]() Is it possible that the pan was shortened right across the hole that the E-brake handle should go? What product did you buy? (can you hyperlink the part you bought from another web page or take a picture of it)? How about a picture of the hole in the tunnel? Jay
I have the same problem.
Whoever cut my pan in a previous life must have felt the Ebrake was too heavy for the car and made the cut there genius.
nope it is the wright hole due to the fact that my friend has a old one too and he has the same style hole only he has a e brake and it fits the cables atatch under insted of over the hole
i just found this it is a 1957 oval bug e brake though when i buy it how do i put it together so that the e brake works i just dont see how i have to put the e brakes in http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1082136

nope wrong e brake the image attached in the last post was the style i need though how does the e brake even hook up
The E brake handle in the picture pushs a rod to the end of front frame head and then the cables run all the way back to the rear brakes from there. This is the handle I had on my 55. It is also thinner that the 58 handle, If your chassis is a 58 you will need a 58 - 67 e brake handle. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=902798 The one with hoops for the cablee to go thru and adjust, The later one that balances a plate across the top that the cables go thur will work also but is not the correct one
