I feel so safe knowing that there are friggin' morons like this sharing the same city streets as me. And yes this happened driving around town. We're going to hang it up in the shop.

The brakes were worn down so far the pads fell out of the bracket and jambed the wheel from turning. He then drove reportedly "miles" with the car pulling to the right and making a funny noise and then more miles after he heard a big "pop" until someone flagged him down. Ah kids, you just gotta......smack 'em upside the freakin' head. I asked him is the squealing brakes for the last say, 200 or so miles didn't indicate that it was time to get things checked or that the sound of the pads trying to weld themselves to the rotors weren't more of an indication. But I guess the sound of a tire dragging, then the rim didn't catch his attention either.

As a mechanic for the past way too many years, it never ceases to amaze me that some people drive totally unsafe piles of junk. If I had the power to pull the plates off a car I thought was unsafe, I'd have a collection of plates as high as my house! Some cars, after seeing them, I won't even road test around the block. What are the biggest lies a customer will tell you? It's only my wife's car, I'm thinking of selling it, or I don't drive it on the highway. My answer to the last one is "oh, so you just drive it in the city, where something is going to let go and you'll hit a bunch of kids waiting for a school bus". It's said the Lord looks after the fools and the drunks, seems I've seen a lot of fools over the years He's looking after!
