![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Purchased a few years back here in NC. Shortened pan, battery in a compartment behind the passenger seat but that may have been custom made. Look closely at the dash and you can tell that it is a bit lower under the speedometer. The radio mount area looks to have been (Poorly) custom molded, so I'd bet that area was just smooth originally. Thanks, Kelly
I want to say it's a Sand Flea
Is the body thicker then normal? Does it have just a battery well only?
Yes, the glass does seem to be thicker than others I've seen, and yes, it's a battery well behind the passenger seat.
Nice body really. It'd be nice to have a "name"... Dash style and rear treatment looks wrong for a "Sand Flea" though. Had it up for sale at $5,500.00 and got no takers, so I'm going to keep it and do some more to it.. I'm thinking of making a "hood" of sorts for the area between the rear fenders. Something to semi cover the engine.... Probably make it out of some polished aluminum.... And then some chrome bumpers, bikini top, 3 point seat belts, and a bit of chrome on the engine.
I believe this is an early Trophy body, The Trophy was made from a Glitterbug shell and several changes just about disguised it's lineage. First up someone has cut your tail box out. The hood rib is a Glitterbug trait as is the drop below the speedometer, but Trophy added the radio bump. On later bodies they eliminated the hood rib and replaced it with offset scoops.
Read this thread and you can see more Trophy buggys p.s. Trophy's were manufactured in Fla, so you aren't far from their orrgin. Bart http://www.dunebuggyarchives.com/forum/topic_show.pl?tid=2648;pid=16354 Powered by mwForum 2.10.2 © 1999-2007 Markus Wichitill |
