You have a gorgeous time capsule of a rare buggy!
Does your Allison have heat in the cabin? I see the heat exchangers are in place and hooked-up. Congratulations on your find! Rob
they never lost it Rob Lol, the gentelman bought it in 1972 from Ken Allison and has had it all these years, They would like for peolple here to give them a value on it, its really not fair for me to put a price on it because I want to buy it, there is a shriners allison on ebay with a starting bid of 5250 dollors and a buy it now of 6500 but it is the long body and hard to compare to their blue Allison it hasnt got a bid on it yet, To me their Allison is the right color, short body and all the Allison goodies, I think heat, turning brakes, two tone interior with the metal flake vynal strips in the seats, just a little wear in the normal areas for a buggy that has been inside all these years, He hasnt really decided to sell it and if he keeps it I would love to take my blue moon dune and visit and see his, allright Jay, John, Brad, Paul and any other dune buggy gurus I left out give them a honest opinion of what you think it is worth and just leave me out of the scene or at least sponsor me with enough money to get it !!! Ken.............
yes we have heat in the cabin, also the side curtains with the zip in windows really cool!!! seats are mint.
Why would you ever want to sell it? Why not use it as a sunny day toy and enjoy it?

I really can't say as I'm so far removed from your area. Todd just turned down what I think is a stupid amount of money for his buggy at the show this weekend. Up here buggies are fairly rare so command a high dollar. I told a guy at the show I would want around $30K for mine....he didn't blink......
Bottom of my surf/sign board reads "NEVER FOR SALE" brad
Thanks Brad throw me a message to let me know how the show went. Sometimes in peoples lives it is time to move on, I have no idea of the circumstances, sometimes age, health, relocting, etc, etc, etc come into play that is why they need everyones honest feedback, I to would not sell my blue moon dune, I was hoping they would adopt me and I would get it one day but with my luck they would out live me and I would be like a kid in the candy store without a dime LOL. ALLRIGHT this is my last post on their site thanks ahead of time for anyone giving them honest opinions, and good luck in whatever they do. Ken...............
my husband is 75 and in good health, but he wont use the buggy that much and its healthier to run it rather than have it sit in our garage covered with a tarp for another 30 years.carbs gum up etc etc from just sitting i have just fixed all those things and prefer to not do it again.besides in our 2 1/2 car garage i have built a walkin closet where the buggy has been sitting--so--------i dont think it should be outside----and im thinking about building a pool----
Hi Linda I hope you dont think I was being nosey, just trying to get someone to help you with a value, I would love to see you get that pool, as with brad I have a uncle at myrtle beach that says he was offered 10,000 for his and wouldnt sell it, there are different ways to go about selling it, local ad wouldnt be bad for the area you are in, then they could come and see how nice that Allison is, Also there is craigslist or ebay, I have a manx on ebay now, putting it in a car show with a for sale sign and seeing if you get offers to buy and if you feel they offer enough, all I have to go by is what I see buggys sell for and what I have paid for them, sometimes on ebay you do not know if they actually got paid or if people backed out the the deal, the nicer they are the harder it is to put a price on them, I hope the guys dont get mad at me here but you could post on the site ( samba vw ) just do like you did here and ask for what they think you should ask for it, bottom line is if he decides to sell it he will have a number in his head to what he will take and to what he will not take, I would appreciate first chance to buy it and will be honest about if I can afford it or not. When I got back into buggys 2 years ago I researched Allison pretty extensively, I even saw the blue one I have now and in a thousnd years would have never guessed I would have ended up with it, I have seen one gold and black one at a dealer that they were asking 15,000 for, that same car is for sale now and has gone down to 10,995 still no takers, I honestly think I would start at 10,000 and just see what happens, I also honestly believe 7500 is more realistic to expect to be able to get for it, but you never know and I would like to see him get the most he can for it, hope you arnt upset with me I really am just trying to help, good luck Ken......
NO, of course not. i appreciate your honesty and your help.we will take our time, my husband is not one to hurry into anything, so i too will take it slow and see what comes. if i can ever get a price figured out and one he will sell for, u will be the 1st to know.
thank you. Ken............
This buggy is very rare and unique because it is exactly as built 30+ years ago. Plus it's a pretty major name brand from the golden era of buggies. For those reasons I'd contact Randy Carlson at www.OldBug.Com and have him broker the sale for you. He's handled a lot of rare and pricey VW's and is well known in the business.
I looked at his site a moment ago and there's a couple of buggies on there now, but neither are even in the same ballpark at the Allison.
