the Dune Buggy Archives

My first memoiries of VW's goes back to the late 50's when my father leased a 57 bug to drive to work. He drove them till he past away in 1972. He had a 1969 bug that he put 186,000 miles on in just 2 years with no major break downs. Now that a dependable car. I wasn't hooked on VW's until the mid 80's when I bought a broken down 1970 camper bus that I rebuilt the engine and drove for about 5 years. In the early 90's, I found an old B.C. Bee at an auction and bought it. Thats when the real addiction began. I started to restore it and decided the body was in to bad of shape to repair. I bought a Berrien Nostalgia body and hope to have it done this year. I have since bought a Fiberjet Rough Terrain that need some work and an unknown T-bucket style body(If you know anything about Sand Pounders, Inc. in Wheeling Illinois let me know) I also have a 58 bug and a 66 Karmann Ghia. Both also need restored. I have alot of work ahead of me.
